Miss Me?

I realize I haven't blogged in over a week, please accept my apologies. I won't bore you with the details, but let's just say that last week was busy. Now onto the really crazy portion of the program. This weekend I had 2 photoshoots. The first was a cute little guy, almost 4 years old. The shoot was outside and it was supposed to rain all day. Thankfully, we finished shooting at about 11am and the rain started about 11:30!

We were not so fortunate for the second shoot. It wasn't raining, but it was crazy windy so we had to shoot indoors. Now, you have to understand, I very much prefer outdoor shoots. Kids are much happier and more cooperative and there is lots of room to move around. I was pretty disappointed about the way it went. That is until this morning. I uploaded the pics earlier and tell me please, who could ever resist this face?
Lynette, I hope you don't mind that blog world gets to see this before you. These pics really did turn out so much better than I had hoped!
Anyway, I have photoshoots or birthday parties every weekend for the next month, so please pray for good weather and sanity for this photographer/mama.

Jadon is 2!

Despite the fact that Jadon is now 2, I think he will always be my baby. I know it's cliche, but the time goes really fast. This afternoon, Kevin took the big kids fishing while JJ and I took off for the park for a two year old photo shoot. As we pulled in, Jadon cheered. We had been shopping for about an hour, so he was thrilled to see the trees and the lake. It's kinda funny that a two year old can recognize that we were there to play even though there was no playground in sight. He had lots of fun running through the leaves and looking out at the lake. It was particularly great that he got Mommy all to himself. He's such a big boy!

Scenic Drive and a Pumpkin Patch

Those of you from around here are well aware of how the scenic drive kinda takes over for the first 2 weekends in October every year. There is also a pumpkin patch just on the edge of town that we've enjoyed going to and picking out pumpkins for the last couple of years. Last weekend,Kevin was working on Saturday so most of the scenic drive was too ambitious for me to conquer on my own. After he got home we took the kids out to the pumpkin patch and they each got to pick out their own pumpkins with their own money. They really thought that was great. Funny how my kids are all about spending their own money all the time. Probably because we so rarely let them.

While they were less than cooperative with Mommy's picture taking, I still had a fun time with them.
I cannot believe I actually stayed still enough to take this picture. Just goes to show that I can conquer even the greatest fear to get a cool shot.
This past Saturday, Kevin and I did manage to get the kids out to the Walnut Grove Farm for the petting zoo that friends of ours run every year. Jadon loved the feeding the goats, but I'm not sure he was still enough for the goat to actually get any oats to eat.
Jadon had his first drink of Sprite, the first time he actually was allowed to have pop, not his first pop ever. That actually happened when he was locked in the car, all alone with my Dr. Pepper. But we try not to think about that.

After the farm, we went into town in search of fudge. Sadly, there was no fudge to be found. We did, however, get some yummy fried Oreos (really, try them) and a face painted.

A hand painted.

And see a magician.

Lots of fun. Can't wait 'til next year!

Homeschoolers at Work

This doesn't violate some sort of child labor law, does it?
Seriously, we did other things for school today. And they'll even tell you that this was fun. I promise. Maybe that's what people mean when they say homeschoolers are weird.

Day 3 post-T&A

Micah was surprisingly active and upbeat after his surgery. But I really thought the next couple of days might prove to be a little more difficult once his throat started healing. Much to my pleasant surprise, he has continued to be active and happy, only telling me his throat hurts when he doesn't get his way. I'd say that's pretty typical 4 year old behavior with or without surgery. Thank you so much for all your prayers.

JJ's big day

This morning as I was folding laundry, Jadon came into the room. I didn't pay much attention to him until I heard him yelling, "Eww, Mess!" Usually this means he's spilled something or gotten into something he shouldn't have. So I got up and came around to where he was playing to see this

He looked up at me and said, "Goop!" His usual request for "goop" comes often after a diaper change. He ran and got the play powder from Chloe's baby doll box.

A short time later he was eating his lunch in the high chair. I left the room for a few minutes and this is what I returned to.

I'm with ya JJ, taking care of babies sure is hard work.
Mom to four beautiful blessings including a brand new little guy. Laugh and cry with me as I navigate the joys and perils of motherhood and homeschooling.
